Batteaux at Amherst Boat Ramp on Friday AM

Friday morning was nice at the Amherst County “Rivers Edge” park/Boat Ramp.

My dog Jake and I decided to go down and check things out since we had no power at home due to the storm that passed on Thursday afternoon.

It was a great surprise to see Emmett Abernathy and David Haney preparing the “Morning Star”. Mason Basten was checking out some of the batteaux just down from the ramp and I went down the steep bank to greet Mason and slid on my backside on the muddy bank. Yes it was funny and Mason said “good save on the camera!”.

Fine Creek Mill batteau arrived with Big Wave Dave and Little Wave Dave and Ned Nelson. They launched and then the Lady’s Slipper launched.

The big big surprise was to see the Capt. Charlie and his wife preparing the Virginia Creeper batteau! This is probably the oldest batteau going down the festival this year.

Saturday looks to be great. The water is a little high but a great level! The muddiness should clear out in a day or two.

OH and I can’t forget to mention Lisa Barbieri was at the ramp early and had tons of things to do. Her new batteau, the “Clifton Lee” was looking good. And it’s a good thing we have good water this year. The boat is sturdy looking (aka thick wood and heavy looking). Good job on the boat Lisa even if it does look heavy.

See you all Sat am
