Last year’s festival hosted several guilds, exhibitors, and vendors from across the Commonwealth showcasing the skills, talents, and craftiness of people and their trades that have contributed to the establishment and development of this unique region. Exhibitors and vendor display, demonstrate, and sell handmade crafts including baked goods, basketry, beekeeping, doll making, fiber arts, fine art, glassblowing, handbags, historic batteau, jams, jewelry, knitting, live music, pottery, quilting, sewing, shaker boxes, sheep shearing, soap making, spinning, storytelling, weaving, wood-carving, and more.
Also this year, attendees will be able to enjoy the unique experience of traveling through the locks (weather permitting), and learning from Virginia Canals & Navigations Society members about the history of transportation through the liquid highways of yesteryear. Children can learn how to make cornhusk dolls from local girl scouts, and elementary and middle school students that participate in a Scavenger Hunt Quiz are entered in a raffle for a chance to win a pizza party for their classroom. Fun for the entire family!
This year we are honored to feature world renowned
Fly Fishing Legend Lefty Kreh
For well over 50 years in the world of fly-fishing, Lefty Kreh stands out as the best-known and best-loved outdoor writer and teacher in the world. Many consider him to be the best, and the most influential, sport fisherman in the last half of the twentieth century. Mark your calendar to join us for a very special day with Lefty.
